Pest Control – One Time Service vs. Quarterly Maintenance Program

Throughout the busy bug season here in Charlotte, we experience questions about whether or not potential clients need an ongoing maintenance program or just a one time service to knock the bugs back.  The answer to this question is an in depth one.  The expectation of the potential client is the main factor in determining whether or not to choose an ongoing service or a one time service.  Also, the insect that is causing the issues is also a factor.  The type of weather that we have here in the Southeast supports the very active, year round insect populations.  This is another factor in the decision of what type of service to select.

One Time Pest Control Option

The one time pest services are just that, a one time application for insects.  The service is extremely thorough.  The outside of the house will receive an application to prevent foraging insects, as well as the window sills, doorways, eaves and other areas that spiders and other insects may use to gain access into the structure. Spider webs will be removed from the exterior of the structure.  A granular insect bait will be broadcasted around the structure as a secondary zone of defense against foraging insects.  The crawlspace of the home, the interior and the attic will be inspected and an application made if needed, depending on the insect(s) causing challenges.  This service generally takes our Pest Management Professional one hour to perform.  Pest control in the Charlotte area can be challenging and taking time to make a thorough application is vital to the success of the service.

Quarterly Pest Control Option

The quarterly service option or maintenance program is performed every 90 days.  The initial service is very similar to the one time service described above.  However, after the initial service has been completed, the following services will be exterior only unless the client has concerns or simply requests the interior to be serviced.  Insects must travel from the natural surroundings around the house, up the foundation walls and into the home.  Therefore, the insects will come into contact with our products, providing excellent control.   Confident in this aspect of pest control, we offer exterior only service unless specific challenges arise that require additional attention inside the home.

Expectations are the key to selecting the service that will best serve the potential client’s needs.  Persistent ant challenges or smokey brown roach (palmetto bugs/water bugs) issues will not be best suited for a one time service.  The pests exist in large numbers and are difficult to control and time is key in dealing with these bugs.  Making a single application will most likely not achieve the results that the homeowner expects.  However, if the homeowner/client is simply requesting a preventative application and does not have a specific issue, the one time service may be a viable option.  The staff here at Noosa Pest always explains to the potential client that is shopping for a one time pest control service versus a quarterly maintenance program that once multiple one time services are selected throughout the year for different insect issues, the potential client could be on the quarterly maintenance program for very close to the same amount of out of pocket expense!

Remember, price is not always the main factor in decision making.  Be careful to align the the expectations with the best service to deliver the anticipated results.  Pest control in Charlotte can be challenging with our long, warm and humid weather patterns.  Consult a professional today from Noosa Pest Management to guide you to the best decision for you, your family and your wallet!
