Charlotte CROP Hunger Walk 2014
Noosa was honored to raise money and to be represented in the 2014 CROP Hunger walk in Charlotte this year. The Charlotte CROP Hunger Walk is an annual event taking place each fall. This is a Nationwide event and the goal is to raise money to alleviate hunger in this country and abroad. The Walk started in 1978 and since then Charlotte has raised over $7.2 million dollars to fight poverty and hunger.
The CROP Hunger walks support development efforts of the Church World Service (CWS). The money raised during the walks provides tools to empower people to meet their own survival needs. That means donating seeds, tools, wells, water systems, training and loans to help people overcome poverty and thus fight hunger.
This year’s 6k (approx. 4 mile) Charlotte CROP Hunger Walk began and ended at Independence Park and the route took walkers through Charlotte on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Noosa had the Wingate family representing them at the walk and Fred, Ellen, Freddie and Logan had an awesome time! Not only was a great time had by all, but we raised over $500 for this amazing and important cause!
Giving back to those less fortunate and being active members in the Charlotte community is something Noosa Pest values. This weekend’s walk was a great opportunity for us to do both of those things and we are so proud of the Wingates and their accomplishment!
